Our History
Our roots trace back to founder Dave Lenz, who rekindled his passion for hospitality in the late 1970’s after growing up in the motel business. After developing his first hotels in Wisconsin—including the original Knights Inn in Tomah—Dave launched his own business from his family’s home in 1980 while still serving in the Air National Guard. That early venture would eventually grow into what is now NCG Hospitality.
Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, the company expanded significantly through both independent developments and joint ventures, adding iconic brands such as Hampton Inn, Comfort Inn, and Fairfield Inn to its portfolio. During this time, NCG established its reputation as an expert hotel developer and operator, growing its footprint across Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, and Arizona.
With the addition of the second generation in the 2000’s—Jeff Lenz, Katie Marron, and Kim Richter—the company accelerated its nationwide growth and deepened its partnerships with trusted hotel brands including Hilton and Marriott. In 2011, NCG expanded further by offering third-party hotel management services to other owners and investors.
